Motorbike Rental Terms

Please read these before you book a scooter or big bike. They match the rental agreement you sign at pick-up.

1. Who can rent

  • You must be at least 18 years old and legally allowed to ride a motorbike in Thailand.
  • You are responsible for all fines, traffic violations, towing, impound fees and legal problems from riding without a valid licence or international driving permit (IDP). Unpaid charges may be taken from the deposit.
  • Always wear the helmet provided and follow Thai traffic laws. Maximum 2 people on the bike.
  • No riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you are found under the influence in an accident, you lose all insurance cover and legal or financial help.

2. Payment, deposit & ending early

  • Rental fees are not refundable once the rental has started, including if you return the bike early or change to a cheaper bike.
  • The deposit is refunded within 24 hours after you return the bike, if there is no damage or rule violation.
  • If you end the agreement early, we may keep the deposit, or recalculate the rent at the normal market rate for the days you actually used and charge the difference.
  • If a payment is late, we may end the agreement immediately and keep the deposit.

3. Where you can ride

  • 160cc and smaller: Phuket only. Leaving Phuket without our approval: 20,000 THB penalty.
  • 350cc and 750cc: Phang Nga and Krabi are allowed with our approval first and an extra fee. Riding beyond Krabi: 10,000 THB penalty. Leaving Phuket without approval: 20,000 THB penalty.

4. Accidents, damage & theft

  • Our motorbikes have no insurance for damage to the bike. Every registered motorbike in Thailand has compulsory insurance, but it only covers the rider’s injuries (up to 30,000 THB). Third-party damage and damage to the rental bike are not covered.
  • If the bike is damaged, the renter is fully responsible: you pay the actual repair bill (as invoiced by the garage), plus the bike’s daily rental rate for every day it is in repair and cannot be rented.
  • If someone else hits you, call the police and call us straight away, and collect the cost of the damage from the other party on the spot. We can help assess the damage cost for you.
  • You are responsible for 100% of repair, replacement, towing and transport costs, even if this is more than the deposit.
  • Do not repair the bike yourself or at an unauthorised garage.
  • If the bike is lost or stolen, you pay its current market value. Always lock the bike with the steering lock when you park it.

5. Fuel, tyres & battery

  • Use 95 Gasohol from petrol stations only. Bottled roadside petrol is not allowed.
  • Return the bike with the same fuel level. Missing fuel is charged at 50–150 THB per bar, depending on the bike model.
  • Flat tyres, punctures and tyre damage (not normal wear) are paid by the renter. You can call us for help, and the repair is charged at the agreed price.
  • The first dead-battery charge is your responsibility: battery charge 500–1,000 THB, battery replacement 1,000–2,500 THB. If the battery cannot hold a charge, it counts as a mechanical fault and we will help.

6. Return time & extensions

  • Rental days are 24-hour periods. Return the bike at the same time it was picked up, unless we agree another time.
  • Late return: 150 THB per hour. More than 4 hours late is charged as one extra day.
  • Want to keep the bike longer? Ask at least 24 hours before your end time (subject to availability). Extensions without telling us are charged at the normal rate plus 100 THB per day.

7. Extra charges

  • Off-road or beach riding: fine up to 5,000 THB
  • Lost helmet: up to 1,000 THB
  • Lost electronic key: up to 6,000 THB · lost mechanical key: up to 3,000 THB
  • Bike returned very dirty: 200 THB washing fee
  • Akrapovič exhaust: this may not be legal on Thai roads. We can change it to a standard exhaust for free. If you keep it, you pay any police fines, and 10,000 THB if the exhaust is confiscated.

8. Other rules

  • No sub-renting or lending the bike, and no one else may ride it without our permission.
  • Changing bikes depends on availability. No refund when changing to a cheaper bike; any deposit difference is refunded.
  • Return the bike in the same condition, apart from normal wear and tear.
  • We are not responsible for personal belongings left in or on the bike.
  • Aggressive, threatening or abusive behaviour towards police, officials, the owner or staff may end the rental immediately without refund.
