Car Help Guide

What to do after an accident, if the car breaks down, or at a police checkpoint — plus answers to the questions we get most.

1. After an accident

  • Don’t move the car. Follow police instructions and call us straight away.
  • Take clear photos: damage on both vehicles, both licence plates, a wide photo of the location, and close-ups of the damage.
  • Get the other party’s details: full name, phone number, and driving licence or ID card.
  • Stay calm, don’t argue and don’t admit fault straight away.

2. Who pays for the damage?

  • All our cars have first-class insurance.
  • Your fault, or no other vehicle involved: you pay the insurance excess, starting from 5,000 THB, plus the car’s daily rental rate for every day it is being repaired and cannot be rented.
  • The other party drives off or can’t be identified: you pay as above, unless you report it to the police and the other party is found — then they pay.
  • Another vehicle hits our car: their insurance pays. If they have no insurance, they pay the full cost, collected on the spot.
  • Insurance won’t cover you if the rules were broken (no valid licence, alcohol or drugs, driving outside the rental area, or misuse) — then the renter pays the full cost.

3. Breakdown or warning light

  • Stop somewhere safe, turn on the hazard lights and send us your location on WhatsApp.
  • Tell us straight away if a warning light comes on or something feels wrong — don’t keep driving.
  • If the breakdown isn’t your fault, we repair the car or give you a replacement. If no replacement is available, unused rental days are refunded.

4. Fuel

  • Petrol (gasoline 95): all Raptors, Honda Civic, Nissan Almera, Toyota Yaris, Mitsubishi Xpander.
  • Diesel: Ford Ranger Stormtrak, Ranger Wildtrak, Ford Everest.
  • Return the car with the same fuel level. Missing fuel is charged 500–1,000 THB per bar, depending on the car.
Putting the wrong fuel in damages the engine and is paid by the renter. If you’re not sure, check the car’s listing or ask us.

5. Police checkpoints & traffic fines

  • Stay polite and don’t argue with the police.
  • Check the fine on the ticket matches the offence, pay as instructed, and keep the official receipt.
  • Always carry your driving licence. Without a valid licence or IDP you can be fined up to 1,000 THB.
  • If the police tow the car: you pay the fine plus a 1,000 THB release fee at the impound yard, and must go to the police station to clear the case.
  • Speed-camera and traffic fines that arrive after your rental are also charged to you.
  • Serious incident (drunk driving, drugs, cannabis): contact us on WhatsApp immediately.

Popular questions

What do I do after an accident?

Don’t move the car, follow police instructions and call us straight away. Take photos of the damage on both vehicles, both licence plates and the location, and get the other party’s name, phone number and licence or ID.

Who pays if I have an accident?

All our cars have first-class insurance. If it’s your fault, or no other vehicle is involved, you pay the insurance excess (from 5,000 THB) plus the car’s daily rate for every day it is being repaired and can’t be rented. If the other party drives off or can’t be identified, you pay as above unless a police report finds them. If another vehicle hits our car, their insurance pays; if they have no insurance, they pay the full cost on the spot.

When doesn’t the insurance cover me?

If the insurance doesn’t pay because the rules were broken (no valid licence, alcohol or drugs, driving outside Phuket, Phang Nga or Krabi, or misuse such as beach, flood or off-road driving), the renter pays the full cost of the damage.

The car broke down. What should I do?

Stop somewhere safe, put the hazard lights on and call us on WhatsApp with your location. If the breakdown isn’t your fault, we repair the car or give you a replacement. If no replacement is available, unused rental days are refunded. Tell us straight away if a warning light comes on.

Which fuel do I use?

Petrol (gasoline 95) for all Raptors, the Civic, Almera, Yaris and Xpander. Diesel for the Stormtrak, Wildtrak and Everest. The fuel type is shown on each car’s listing. Return the car with the same fuel level; missing fuel is charged 500–1,000 THB per bar depending on the car.

Where can I drive?

Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi only. Driving outside these 3 provinces has a 20,000 THB penalty. Crossing international borders is not allowed.

Do I need an International Driving Permit?

A Thai, international or foreign driving licence is accepted for renting. Police may still fine you up to 1,000 THB at a checkpoint if you don’t have a valid licence or IDP, and you are responsible for any damage.

I was stopped at a police checkpoint. What should I do?

Stay polite and don’t argue. Check the fine on the ticket matches the offence, pay as instructed by the police, and keep the official receipt. All fines are paid by the renter, including speed-camera fines that arrive after the rental ends.

Can I return the car early or extend?

The minimum rental is 3 days. You can return early, but rent already paid is not refunded and unused days can’t be saved for later; your deposit is returned. To extend, tell us at least 24 hours before your end date. Late return is 200 THB per hour; more than 6 hours late is charged as 1 extra day.

I lost the key. What happens?

Tell us straight away. A lost key costs 6,000 THB.
